Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 6:30.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Secretary’s Report

The minutes from the March meeting were read.

There were no changes or additions.

Treasurer’s Report

$1913.31 in checking.

Report filed for annual review

Presidents Council Report

The PHA will receive more government funding.

Sign-up is closed for the Festival of Nations trip. There is a $5.00 fee for that trip and that is payable now.

Picnic volunteers are still needed. There is a small stipend for volunteers.

If any expensive equipment like computers or exercise equipment is owned insurance can be purchased for around $100 a year.

PHA Report

Ana Matos gave the report.

HUD inspections took place. Eight apartments were inspected. Six had findings at different levels. We are still waiting for the final report on that. If we score less than 80 we will have to be reinspected next year. (Inspections are usually every three years.)

Information about safety and dispute resolution was read. Accurate and prompt reporting of problems makes it easier for management to take steps to resolve them.

Security reminders: Keep your apartment door locked at all times. Do not prop open doors. (That is not allowed by the Fire Marshall.) Visitors must be buzzed in by the person they are visiting. It is a lease violation to let people you do not know in. (If someone follows you in or comes in when you go out you are not liable for that.)

Test your smoke detector periodically. Do not disable it.

Never use your stove or oven for heat or use gas powered equipment in your apartment.

If the fire alarm goes off stay in your apartment unless there is an announcement to evacuate. If you are not in your apartment when the alarm goes off do not attempt to get to your apartment.

Officer in residence not present.

Entertainment Chair

20 or so people came to the Easter dinner. A good time was had by all.

Diversity dinner and a movie on April 25th at 5:00PM. It will feature Somali culture.

National Night Out was discussed. There may be a dedication for the Peace pole. Also a barbecue and bake sale. Including the neighbors was discussed. Volunteer appreciation is next month.

Sunshine Chair

Bill McAndrews is back from the VA hospital.

Old Business

Getting a badminton or croquet set was discussed. Concerns about ruining the grass were brought up.

Nothing new on the bench.

Should there be a fee for use of the community room by outside groups associated with a resident? Requiring a deposit be given was suggested. Outside groups with no connections to residents are not allowed.

Should the kitchen be closed at night? Many of the other hi-rises keep theirs closed.

Pat Kramer donated a microwave for the kitchen. It's smaller than the one that is there.

New Business

A nominating committee is needed. Their job is to recruit people to run for the five officer positions.

Committee members: Ed Eubanks, Laurie Stolarczyk, Pat Kramer, Bonnie Reynolds.

The birdbaths need repairs. One is not repairable. The other one has been fixed. New ones will have to be priced. Everyone is welcome to help with the gardens. Seedlings have been started. Herb seeds still needed.

Do we want to have a spring cleaning drive? (Clothing and small items)

Kasota pond clean-up on Saturday April 18th.

The idea of planting a tree in memory of those who have passed away was discussed.
