Residents Council Meeting Minutes

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 6:40.

Lawanda from Metro Transit spoke. She talked about the routes in our area and how to ride the bus. She also talked about the guaranteed ride home program and answered questions.

Free ride tickets were given out.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Secretary's Report

The minutes from the December meeting were read.

There were no changes or additions.

Treasurer's Report

Melissa gave the financial report.

It will be filed for annual review.

Total of all funds is: $2689.25


Presidents Council Report

The PHA will be giving computers with all hardware to the hi-rises. There will be two computers per building. Wi-Fi costs are still the responsibility of the residents councils.

Questions on the proposed lease changes should be brought to the Presidents council or the manager.

Lease changes were read. You also should have received a copy in the mail.

Recipes are still needed for the cookbook. Deadline is February 2nd.

PHA Report

A new emergency phone will be put in soon.

14th floor inspections rescheduled for the 15th.

The strip by the mailboxes should be left for PHA postings.

OIR Charlie was not available. (Working out of town)

Don't try to solve domestic violence problems by yourself. Call the police in that situation.

Please stay out of the way when the police or rescue squad is in the building. It keeps them safe and lets them do their job better.

Ana will be gone from February 11th to March 12th. She will be on vacation.

Old Business

Holiday party went well. We stayed within budget.

New Business

There will be a Martin Luther King Day event on January 18th.

Bengo may move to Thursday nights. Bengo committee meeting on January 20th at 6PM. Newsletter committee will be on the 27th at 6PM. The Seal computer committee will meet on the 13th at 6PM.

Diversity committee will meet on February 3rd at 6PM. We have the go ahead for the peace pole.

We have a new volunteer, Tabitha Cook. She will be helping with events.

Getting our own emergency phone was brought up.

Let maintenance know if you have heating problems in your apartment. Keep windows locked and closed. If temperature is below 68 degrees with windows locked call maintenance. That is considered a serious problem. You can purchase spare keys for $2.00.

PHA maintenance will only take care of refrigerators and stoves.

Elevator problems are considered emergencies. TV antenna problems are not.

Birdbath tabled until next meeting.

Community room TV was discussed. Getting it put back up needs to be scheduled with PHA maintenance. Ana will have an answer on when that will happen in a day or two.

Dogs must be on leashes when outside your apartment. Cats should not be loose either. Some people are afraid of animals or allergic.

Bylaws will be changed to add TV and computer rules and add community room use contract. Changes will be posted until next meeting and voted on then.

Events:

Bengo on Thursdays.

MLK event on the 18th.


Bill won dime-a-time.

Rosie won the door prize.
